Our Work with Schools and Professionals

We work with Schools

Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG)

As part of the Staffordshire County Council contract for family support, we have been awarded additional funding to work with 200 families who have children in East Staffordshire schools. Our Family Support Workers offer home based and school support for students identified as having emotional issues, attendance and / or behaviour issues, worries at home or any other concern having an impact on their education.

We have our Family Hub, located on the Linnell Site of Abbot Beyne School, enhancing our partnership working with the educational sector. As part of our Lottery funded “Thinking Differently” programme we have designed our own community garden on site, and will be facilitating sessions, specifically for schools to refer to, offering students who need some “time out” of the classroom to help out in the garden. More information will follow

Sessions

We offer Harvey Girls sessions aimed at mums with children under the age of 5, and Dads4Dads groups, aimed at dads and their children, delivering a range of activities aimed at improving parenting and life skills. Groups are based on peer support and incorporate Parenting and Life skills and emotional support as well as practical support on a range of issues such as accessing funding, benefits and accommodation. They also promote healthy lifestyle choices including sexual health and contraception advice, diet and menu choices as well as providing a balanced meal and practical skills based sessions.

Children attend and are supported by a Play Worker to engage in activities aimed at improving their development and social skills (linked to EYFS milestones).
